The painting has been sold. It is now part of a private collection in Germany.

In medieval alchemical texts, there is mention of the wondrous creature — stella marina — a luminous fish that ignites everything it touches underwater.
Its glow symbolized the fire of the Holy Spirit, the manifestation of divine grace awakening hearts submerged in darkness.

In this image are merged:

• Light as a sign of forgiveness and mercy,

• Water as a realm of purification and transformation,

• The fish as a symbol of spiritual renewal and boundless love.

The sculptural painting technique, the shimmering gold leaf, and the textured surfaces amplify the idea of a mysterious fire silently spreading through space.
