Hazel was called a blessed tree that is not affected by a thunderstorm. A stick of hazel was placed in the corner of the cattle pen to protect it from witchcraft. It was believed that a double nut brings happiness and wealth. Such nuts were kept as a talisman and sewn into a censer so as not to be lost.
A symbol of abundance, wisdom and protection.
